We run 2 employment services programs here in London. Y Opportunities that helps support individuals with self-identified and diagnosed disabilities and Y Works that supports youth and young adults with barriers get jobs in the community. We partner with different business in the London and surrounding area to find meaningful employment for our participants. We offer a 4 & 5 week workshop for our selected participants to learn how to update resumes, cover letters, conduct mock interviews, learn about conflict resolution, communication styles etc. We have guest presenters from Fanshawe College, Canadian Mental Health Association and Youth Speaker Academy. We provide a wage subsidy to employers which is minimum wage ( $17.20) per hour at 30 hours a week for the first 12 weeks of employment. We can help support both participants and employers with accommodations, on site check ins, job mentoring and coaching. Through the experience we are there to support both the employer and the participant through the probationary period. We also provide external supports such as certificates, nutrition support, bus tickets/mileage to relieve barriers for our participants.
